"I have heard that by his good character a man can reach the degree of someone who stands in prayer at night and who fasts during the heat of the day" -

-Abu Dawud

So your character - can save you from the Hell Fire. SubhanAllah, isn’t that amazing? Imagine, you missed a few prayer, and missed a few fasts, and committed a few sins, and by the mercy of Allah, because your character was good - because you were good to people - to other servants of Allah, He forgives you, and you enter Jannah.
I kind of believed in a ‘Don’t care what other people think’ way of life. And I still say - don’t care about the rumors, and negative talks from those aunties sipping tea (still take critique from those who love you - realize your flaws). But care that you’re good, and people will acknowledge that. Even if they hate your guts - if you’ve never done anything to harm them, if you’ve shown them respect when they have given you none, they will, even if it is inside, acknowledge your manners, acknowledge your kindness. Be good to people, help people - go out of your way. Remember that Allah is the one you’ll have to answer to. But if you’re all about worshipping Allah, and disregard the rest of the world - your family, your friends, the sick, the hungry ..; you’re doing it wrong.
